Here’s How You Can Pursue God’s Creative Handprint in Your Student…

Student creativity should be about the process and what the process can produce, not about the perfect performance or product. Students need safe places to make some small mistakes and be gently coached through them.

When you choose to provide simple theater and become a “coach” you will need to release your “adult” desires to produce something that will be impressive. If you beam with pride for the creativity and effort you see in the students, the students will beam as well, regardless of the quality of the shows you all produce. This will spur an increased desire to develop creativity. Self motivation is a powerful tool!

Our goal is not to make pretty things or to kill creativity with boring teaching. Be a facilitator, not a micromanager.

Darcy, a 16 year old who has learned to create mood boards all on her own, now has a place to display and use this talent as the Student Director of the Dinner Theater skit “The Burglar Alarm.”  She is a gem!

Really push into the idea that hobbies can be utilized when producing a MAD show (and are welcomed).
